Our Children’s Chinuch is Under Attack
Say NO!
The NYS Education Department recently released new, proposed regulations for nonpublic schools. These regulations state:
- The school is told what to teach by their local district.
- Teachers employed by the school are subject to the approval of the local school board.
- Parents may be directed by local school boards to send their children to other schools.
- Outsiders may cause a previously approved school to be reevaluated.
- Any person has the authority to initiate administrative or judicial proceedings, challenging a school's ability to operate.
We have until May 30 to express our objections to these regulations before the Board of Regents votes on it in September and the regulations go into effect.
The last proposed regulations generated 140,000 comments, nearly all in opposition. This resulted in a deferral of the regulations for years, and several positive changes to the regulations. However, the danger to our Yeshivos remains.
So, whether you are a yeshiva parent, student, graduate, educator, or community member
